If humans were selectively bred as dogs are could we vary as much? Could there be breeds of 1 foot humans and 9 foot humans and humans with tiny legs and arms and humans with very long legs and arms? Or is this variety specifically to do with dogs?
Debi is good fun, a complete gym nutter, music mad and entirely unreliable. She thinks she's a great singer but is a reasonable one. There's some vids online of her studio work. Her plan to become something better than Adele has probably waned now.
Her Dad seems to be quite a large influence on things which could have something to do with why men clear off. He is significantly hardcore and is probably some sort of man-scaring gang master or something.
She has a wicked sense of humour and is always getting on the wrong end of things, would probably ruin your life and you would not be able to resist her charms, most of which are based on some sort of misbehaviour or other. She is brighter than her educational performance suggests so is no idiot.
She sounds not unlike but isn’t a patch on my Mrs G (whose Dad incidentally is a six foot five Irishman so none to shabby on the scaring stakes if needs be).
Are we then agreed that it is only practical considerations that prevent us creating weird and whacky humans as we do dogs and we could in theory have human breeds as different from each other as a Great Dane and a whippet?
Zero yes we have lots of diversity but really not on the scale of dog breeds - some breeds are probably 100x bigger than others also a lot of our diversity is lifestyle driven.
was there not a theory that colonial slave owners “bred” west african slaves to be tall and strong? I think it got debunked. And remember we know full well that incest is a bad idea.
as someone with clear mixed heritage I enjoy believing that as a result my genes are good :)
In the horse breeding world they can now predict colour genes/combinations with ridiculous accuracy as we understand and can test for homogeneity or not of the colour genes.
Given what we know about the human genome, you could easily create *breeds* of human based on hair/eye colour. Height.
You could also breed for things like webbed toes, lung capacity, athleticism, or existing diversity/skills like red blood cell levels, tolerance too cold.
There was even a group of *blue* humans at one point.
What is totally unknown is other side effects and mutations that would be caused by such selective breeding.
Because that is the only difference between humans and thousands of years of domestication in species like dogs, horses, pigs and cows.
If the Fugates were any species other than human.. they would have been treated as a new *breed* and we would have sought the bluest colour possible.
They would have wound up with massively high levels of heart abnormality’s and other recorded issues while their breeders chased the darkest colour blue possible.
We know this because it is exactly what we have done with things like French bulldogs, pugs, German shepherds, Doberman’s … etc etc.
most pure bred dogs these days are walking health disasters.

I think the Germans had a sort of selective breeding thing going on at one time or another.

Wouldn’t be hard, though timescales a bit longer than with dogs.
Judging by the accentuated genetic defects that Kennel Club dogs suffer from, the side effects of incautious breeding would be pretty horrific.
Luckily, you could not do it by force and there is no other way.

Try sticking a Dutchman and a Kenyan together and one might say we already have a fair amount of diversity.
Thinking about it you could make that argument solely based on indigenous African tribes.

It would be absurdly easy to do this.
In the horse breeding world they can now predict colour genes/combinations with ridiculous accuracy as we understand and can test for homogeneity or not of the colour genes.
