I like the idea of the haunted stolen mobile. Would be a good novel.
Puts me in mind of Victims by Shaun Hutson where (spoiler alert) the protagonist has an eye transplant from a dying serial killer and realises he can see an aura around people who become "victims" - supposedly how the serial killer identified easy prey...
Sony actually do phones with decent battery life expectancy. Samsung will all be crap after 18 months. You could look at some of the older LG models as they have decent cameras and user-replaceable batteries (a 3 year old model - LG G5, but not good with water/dust ingress).
where the first requirement was "Android" we have had 3 suggestions of iPhone. This why clients hate legal advice - instead of answers to a question, you lot tend to blurt out "stuff you know which is sort of related, but not entirely on point, £1000 please".
Sorry, did a tax lawyer just accuse someone of having a boring job?
Also I remain surprisingly wrinkle free. U?
Now mind how you go drinking your next cup of coffee. The guy who picked the beans might have died the very day he picked them and his soul entered your macchiato and he will now forever haunt you from within. WHHHOOO, WHHHOOOOOOOOO!
Thanks Coffers. Having had 1 iPhone, 2 Microsoft phones, a dozen blackberries and about a dozen android phones (including the last 5 phones in a row) I sort of came to a different conclusion.
I got a Samsung s9 when it first came out. Because it was such a slight improvement over the "game-changing" S8, everyone already had a 12 month old S8 and no-one wanted to trade up for marginal gains. Meant it was something stupid like £29/month for a new S9 with unlimited calls, texts, free roaming and 30gb data / month (which I've never used).
I have heard IPhones aren't bad and their customer services is without equal as I found out once again today. Speaker doesn't work, so all calls made and received have to be held on loudspeaker. I call Apple yesterday, they run remote diagnostics, then book an appointment today. I am seen 2 minutes late and they apologise. Some snazzy kit runs tests, and identify an ingress of a tiny amount of water and lots of lint. They fixed it an hour later having advised me the phone is just out of warranty.
They however refused to charge me. Compare and contrast with PC world or whatever it is called these days.
Interesting thread.
i got a one plus 3T when it came out. I was on another Android at that point and, on the day of a mates wedding, as I was playing Pokemon go, it bricked. I can’t even remember what it was now. Probably an HTC. In fact, it was htc, coz I remember trying to root it when I was very very hungover, and I bricked it so utterly that carphone warehouse couldn’t even access the bios or whatever they have to find out what was wrong. Anyway, I got a replacement, was happy with that for some time, then it died on the morning of this wedding.
the one plus 3T was a great phone. Then it died about 6 weeks ago. It was pretty battered by that point, but we’d been through. Lot together, that phone and I. I thought about replacing it with a one plus 7t but I can’t afford that. So used our home emergency phone, an iPhone 6. Not even a 6s. A 6.
It was literally excruciating to use. So slow. But, y know, needs must. Then my mum upgraded her iPhone 7 Plus to an 11, and I got her 7 plus.
and you know what? Despite being an Android fanboy for several phones, I’m pretty happy with the 7 plus. Pokemon go loads super quick, battery life is ok, so, yeah, it’s all good.
i disagree with the jizz on phone sentiment. Why would you jizz on your phone? Who does that? Surely phone is in one hand, nearer to eyes and face than to penis (male or female penis, obvs) while other hand does its thing. Having the phone around the level of said genitalia makes no sense, unless you are using binoculars to screen.
oh.. wait. this is where someone says ‘the phone IS near my face. So is my cock, which is 2 foot long.”
gotcha
Genuinely don’t know why people don’t use iPhones if they can afford it. I’m still using my old iPhone 6 and it’s going strong, love it.
Will probably upgrade when I’m forced to by updates or whatever but apple just want to sell you their stuff from the stores, whereas google are properly annoying data thieves.
And iPhones just effing work. So much easier than poncing around with all these very silly operating systems with even sillier names on Android.

Do you have CEX up in scotishland? I'd get a second hand one from there if so (between about 70-200).

Isn't cex where they take stolen stuff tho? I would feel worried about getting a phone stolen from a dying man or sthg. Ghosts etc.

most new phones don't have a headphone socket, so budget an additional £200 every 2 years to replace some stupid bluetooth headphones.

Deeply lame even by your standards of attention seeking.
Oh no, what if the phone phantom comes for me? Has no one ever suffered as I have?

Statistically speaking, any secondhand phone has at least a 50% chance that it's been used for viewing porn and will have some cum on it.

TBF that means there's a 50% chance your old phone was in a similar condition

agree three or o2 are shite. stick with vodafone or ee...better network and better freebies.
I have so far paid for one and that was an iphone as the android experiences have been uniformly shit.

I think iphones are not that far when it comes to the battery - maybe a year longer (2.5 years or so) - depending on the usage.
It is the stupid apps and their constant updates and running in the background that kills the android phones.

Last phone was a Moto (get one of those, they’re fine). This one is an iPhone. Android and Apple are pretty similar nowadays tbh
