And Hugh Grant is an ardent remainer who hates Boris Johnson and everything he stands for. If he were going to play a Prime Minister he'd be cast as a cool Britannia 1990s New Labour type like in Love Actually.
For the TV movie, they avoided portrayal of most of the major political figures in favour of a focus on the Leave campaign organisation, but they did find a guy called Paul Ryan to play Farage, who was basically just a lookalike. We need a good Farage.
Some strong female casting from LP. I'd go for Liz Hurley as Leadsom personally.
Penelope Wilton is a gr8 shout as Leadsom. Not sure about Celia Imrie though. I know her personally (slightly), and think she'd be a bit rubbish as May.
No idiotic castings based on your own partisan allegiances pls we are trying to cast a serious indie film here. Bernard Cribbins and Adolf Hitler are not going to be in it. I doubt Hitler even has an Equity card FGS.
It's also worth mentioning, in the category of prior art, the specialist film Hard Brexit, which unlike the dire-looking Cumberbatch vehicle, I have actually seen. Rebecca More is especially compelling as Theresa May.
This could be Hugh Grant's Oscar opportunity. Go full on Christian Bale, eat all the pies till his face explodes and play the foppy Etonian role that was always meant to be his.
BoJo is a difficult casting challenge. It needs someone who can do a good chinless wonder routine whilst at the same time appearing like someone who could plausibly be PM of a G7 economy.
Timothy Spall before he discovered salad would have been a good choice.
Grant is getting the lead role, mainly to annoy LP by making her fancy Boris.
Rhona Mitra as Priti Patel I think. From what I recall of Mitra's acting credits, she looks smoking but is not 100%% convincing as a human being. She'll be perfect.

You seem to have rejected all of the casting suggestions anyone else made, Laz.
For example, there is simply no better casting than David Walliams as Keir Starmer or Matt Lucas as Emily Thornberry.
Your excuse that they are comedians not actors is both wrong and irrelevant. Plenty of comedians transitioned to serious acting (Robin Williams, Whoopie Goldberg, Eric Bana, Eddie Murphy, Russ Abbott).
I accepted most of Lady Penelope’s suggestions because they were sensible. I can’t see a role for Emily Thornberry in the script. If you think Walliams should play Starmer then pls explain why.
Celia Imrie as May is from the clown school of casting. I actually have Celia's mob no. I'm actually seriously tempted to ask her whether she'd accept such an absurd part.
Danny Dyer as Mark Francois?! Are you having a fvuking larf? An East End hard man? You need to cast an actor capable of portraying an absurd Pooterish person. I repeat: Mark Benton would be perfect.
All I can say is I'm glad you lot are City lawyers/Argentinian football journalists/ retired SAS men living in Cornwall/inventors of Insane Kung Fu. Otherwise, I'd genuinely fear for the future of British cinema.

Sophie Cookson cameo as Isabel Hardman, as per the other thread.
