around the table were people in favour of brexit and against and am ambivalent. At least half of whom had written large cheques to the party. All of whom had voted Tory all their lives. Several of whom had stood as candidates at various levels.
1/6 were planning on voting Tory, so I could see sub 10% as an outcome
Good God no. Already voted BP. Have to say it was a proper struggle to justify voting for a party led by Farage, but there it is. Claire Fox is my representative. I got accosted by a BP canvasser and he was such a aunt I have to say if I'd met him before I'd voted I probably would have spoiled my ballot.
As mentioned yesterday, I've done a postal vote which will be delivered by hand having missed the deadline for the post. It contains, in addition to a X in the Lib Dem box, helpful summaries (in a non-spoily paper way) of some of the key attributes of the other contenders eg
Buzz! Great doc. That is the clearest explanation of anything that I have ever seen in a public document, including the drawings they put beside lifebuoys in harbours and the road sign of a car tipping over a cliff.
Tbf if buzz drew a massive swollen hairy purple plum with a speech caption of "ohdeydododontdeydo" next to the green party candidate he may fall foul of that second rule
Coracle, yes they do. It's the only fun part of the whole palaver. Can't recall if the candidate has to be present or if their agent or a nominee can do it (I did it once as a paper candidate, there was no way I was going to be troubling the scorers so I didn't have much else to be doing)
Recently someone wrote w**kER down the length of their ballot paper with an arrow pointing to (I think) the Tory candidate and it was counted as a vote for him. It was in the news might have been in the locals
I’ve always loved the idea of expressing my views on the candidates on the ballot paper and always regretfully concluded that merely wastes the time of the returning officer and his staff.
Best to express them to the candidates in person. Unfortunately these days my views on ALL the candidates are too negative to express easily.
three ducks, let’s be honest - if there were to be a poll taken as to whether you or Wang should be allowed to vote (on an either/or basis) almost the entire world (if not actually the entire world) would go with Wang
Dux, I realise this may be an anathema to you (and indeed rof), but I tend to admit when I don't know something and try to find out the answer rather than just bullshytting.
A very jovial individual from LibDems came canvassing last night, didnt mind a bit when I said we werent sure we would vote at all.
he had on his Stop Brexit t shirt. Sadly partly obscured by his jacket so all you could read was BREXIT in bright blue which immediately made you think he was one of the craziess and I nearly shut the door in his face.

They are currently polling at around 10% according to this.

The Greens could potentially get more votes than the Tories.
Were you the 1 out of the 6, Clubbers?

The only reason I would be voting tomorrow is in an attempt to cancel out my wife's BP vote.
Hopefully she will be too busy to bother.

Labour is also shit. Owen Jones in the graun: „hardcore remainers run Risk of Splitting the Labour vote“
labour and magic grandpa is ofc more important than sensible policies. Also, what is hardcore remain? Either you wanna remain or you don’t
it is all so pathetic
makes a feller lose respect

If anyone is interested in the amount of crap you can put on your ballot paper without spoiling it, p11 onwards of the linked pdf

so from the leaflet Buzz posted above, the two rules are that:
1. the voter's intention must be certain; and
2. the voter must not be identifiable,
one can therefore draw things in one box other than a cross and it would be allowed

loving that sample ballot paper

Sort of. I'd suggest though that putting a big spunking cock in one box probably wouldn't be taken as a certain intention to vote for that candidate.

I'm pretty sure that in my constituency a massive cock drawn anywhere on the ballot paper would be counted as a vote for the incumbent Tory MP.

Agreed that's an awesome document. I might even quote the appropriate case law showing it is valid to help the returning officer.
The parties have people observing the count, do they get to look at the contentious ballot papers?

Yep, the whole process is in that doc. It's partly why it takes fooking forever.

That must be fake news Hoolie.
Tomorrow is the Brexit Party’s first election.
It’s hard to believe that a returning officer would reveal how a ballot paper was counted before the (non-postal) vote is even open.

Eh?

No he or she wrote Brexit on the paper
and it was in the locals
