Steve Carrell is a therapist who wakes up chained to the floor in the basement room of his patient - played by Domnal Gleeson - who is a murdering psychopath who needs a therapist he can be open with. 5 episodes, and it's wonderfully brooding and compelling.
just started Godless last night and think it might have legs.
I was decidedly angry The Leftovers made me waste so much time watching it all. Read an interview with the 'maker' (?) who admitted all the stuff I hoped would be explained eventually was just guff. I was warned it had the potential to be a bit like Lost in that respect and should have heeded.
I'm 2 eps into Furies. Yet to make up mind. Seems kinda derivative and a bit hard to follow the intrigue between the gangsters (maybe I'm just not interested enough),
+1 for Schitts Creek. Perfectly-sized morsels of feel-good comedy.
Enjoyed Brothers Sun. Some very well choreographed action scenes, if that's your thing.
Not exactly hidden but I have got through three series of slow horses in about two weeks. Brilliant. And, importantly, short series with 40 min episodes.
Modern day male Korean chef… wakes up in the body of a Joseon era queen.
Has a rough idea about the history of that time. Beautiful costumes, well filmed and interesting commentary on how we never really know the ‘truth’ of history.
Not quite hidden, because it's all over Netflix's home page, but Hit Man is a light and enjoyable, dark comedy thriller, who-done-what. And the female lead... Wow.
Just started watching The Hour on netflix. It's from 2012 but I missed it at the time. Was in love with Romola Garai within about 5 minutes, but that's just a bonus.
She’s great. See also Miss Marx. Dont quite believe you pronounce it ‘Gary’ but tbh that’s an even bigger in joke. Extra Marx for her ‘ my birth stitches nearly popped’ comment somewhere. Blighty needs more RG.

I'll start:
The Patient - Disney+
Steve Carrell is a therapist who wakes up chained to the floor in the basement room of his patient - played by Domnal Gleeson - who is a murdering psychopath who needs a therapist he can be open with. 5 episodes, and it's wonderfully brooding and compelling.

+1 for Schitt’s Creek. Moira Rose is iconic.
There’s this Korean series called The Glory which I thought was great, albeit very serious.

The issue with the above is they don’t include live cycling.

Channel 4 is good hunting ground and I would recommend Walter Presents for the (admittedly very few) non crime dramas.
The Adulterer
Seaside Hotel

The Leftovers - insanely good drama. 2% of the world suddenly disappear.
Love/Hate - Irish gangster drama
Schtisel - insanely good Haredi drama/comedy
A whole lifetime with Jamie Demetriou - v off the wall Netflix one off comedy
Ellie and Nastasia

'Beef' on Netflix. Ali Wong is superb.
'The Patient' was, in my view, boring and predictable. I switched off from it.

+1 for Beef
Death and other details on Disney is reasonable enough if you liked Knives Out.

Godless on netflix
Seven 70 minute episodes of western. Ace so far (2/7)

Similar to Beef in style is The Brothers Sun which is also good.
I haven’t seen Schitts Creek so it must still be somewhat lower key than other big shows (the name just makes it seem not very fun).

Give Schitts Creek a go, it is actually so much fun x

Lupin has been around for a while but had completely passed me by until recently. Netflix French series and tremendous fun.

The good news is Northern Exposure is on Prime. The bad news is you have to pay for it. No idea if it’s the version with generic music or not.

Another vote for Fisk, Australian comedy about a solicitor on netflix
Astrid: Murder in Paris, French crime series about an autistic women who helps the police on Walter presents (More4)
Superstore like PP mentions is lovely. Like most US sitcoms it gets weaker towards the end. On Netflix and ITVX

Extraordinary was extraordinary for about 2 episodes. It got very mediocre thereafter. Which is a shame.
