I carried a lot of holiday over last year and went to Oz. A project meant I then didn't use this year's holiday and have 20 days left.
The director I work for has it in his head I should sell this, and I don't want to (after tax it just isn't worth it). If I make a fuss I'll get this carried over but I cba.
Sooo... I'm planning to take the first three weeks in December off and work between Christmas and New Year (when nothing is happening anyway).
Plans are to go to Barcelona for the first week and then.... plan NOTHING for the next two weeks... but it would be nice to have some back up plans for one week of this period... any ideas?
TBH, I like the idea of having no plans and just giving myself the freedom to watch it's a wonderful life and snooze....

It’s a rough time for the weather but a couple of weeks of the Camino ending in Santiago in Galicia in Christmas week would be something I would look at.
If that’s not your thing try finding a volunteer project to work on with young adults, like Prince’s Trust, you can enrich their lives with your experience

2 weeks doing naff all may seem attractive now, but you seem to be an active person with a full life outside of work and might find that even a couple of days with nowt to do is a bit much. Maybe plan to have days out/activities and the occasional day with no plans interspersed. You could catch up with films/shows/exhibitions/long lunches in London, say.
Enjoy it tho!

You could spend the month working out how to get all four monitors working on your laptop?

I'd change my flight to one way and then spend the rest of my time meandering back to blighty by train, stopping wherever took my fancy for a couple of days at a time.
Effectively a trip up the South West of France

Did you enjoy Australia ? I would just go there again. 4 weeks is about the breakeven point for me where it's worth the flying time.
China Airlines to Sydney via Taipei is about £1k in economy. Fab airline whichever bit of the plane you're in. Sample dates and fare:

If I was just doing one week away I'd probably go to Madeira for walking and eating bliss. Can usually get CE seats out of London for not that many Avios if you have some of those...
