Rewatched some of "Threads" last night. If you spliced in 5 years of Boris Johnson as PM in place of the nuclear attack at the start of the film, I reckon that would be pretty accurate.

Frankly another Cold War would be pretty depressing in this age - having the media continually push a narrative of being on the brink of total destruction for a decade or so would probably take its toll in terms of mental health.
Agree with Minority Report. We already have automated vehicles and use biometric scanning. The “precogs” bit is still a bit too fictiony but I can see the judicial processes heading towards quick judgments by the court of public opinion
