Tbf they’re just not as greedy as lawyers. Plus have more efficient referral systems. Most lawyers know fvck all about business and you’re an obvs example, obvs. The charge what you like mentality persists.
You don’t want someone who’s not good enough to be busy
You say you’ll wait and then check in with them every few weeks soften things will change - for example decorating after a kitchen can be delayed if the kitchen hasn’t gone in / or painting the outside of a house is weather dependent
If you can offer your work beingnsplit so they can fit it around others they may be able to squeeze you in But otherwise you wait - and know that it’s being done by someone competent.
If you want quick - as the local lettings agents who they use / they’ll be less good but they usually have people they know / use who can work at short notice.

A lot of decorators are like this. Especially the good ones who like to let coats and treatments dry properly between applications.
Sometimes if you offer them more money they become more available.

Round here, most tradesmen are booked up 6 months in advance, unless it's a really small job that can fit in in an hour or so on the way back home.

I wouldn’t use one that was immediately available.

It's a pretty skilled job, it's not like changing a lightbulb or drafting legal documents.

Come on. We can do this. A new wave of tubby lawyers falling off ladders and spilling paint pots on their heads. Call in the professionals.
