I'm sitting overlooking the runway and no flights have landed or taken off in the last 2 hours. Loads of flights cancelled and they are blaming the weather?!
do they still do the "business only" NY flights from LCY? I never took them but my colleagues did, and I remember the return leg would often get diverted to Heathrow because of fog.
Speedbird One is dead but it was great - did it twice. Never did the return from NYC though as no real benefit (was never going straight to the office), just did first back to LHR.
I live right by the airport. It has a very short runway and very steep approach. I semi-frequently see flights abort landing attempts if the weather isn't great.

Odd, Heathrow is as busy as usual with 27 arrivals. Everything in LCY is showing as delayed on FR24

There's a KLM flight arriving right now
I've had a look over at the airport, there's no fog

They're blaming fog. Gatwick too.

Annoying as I switched from my usual evening flight cos all evening flights seem to be delayed nowadays regardless of weather. Grrrr

Hmm.. that KLM just passed over my flat, seems they're doing a 09 arrival but there's definitely no visibility issues

the KLM has gone around. Something is wrong here, ILS may be faulty or something but I can't see any fog issues.

Meanwhile southern Europe has been pushing 40 this week and nothing is cancelled.

I was an hour late back into Gatwick today. The pilot said it was fog delaying the morning departures.

That was BA1 no they don’t do it anymore. Main thing was clearing US customs in Ireland.

I've had an almost-touchdown aborted landing at LCY caught by BigJets TV. Not quite as scary as the aborted takeoff tho.
Apart from the airport noise I'd love to live around there, although i'd probably get fat from going to the Oiler Bad every evening.

With the new Lizzy line it's actually a pretty good place to live and most properties in the area have excellent noise proofing.
