I could go on with posting the Free Country X posts, but hopefully the non-racist amongst you will have got the point:

- There are 100,000,000s of people around the world facing far worse oppression than the circa 4 million Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza, including 10,000,000s of arabs (Syria) and Muslims (Syria plus Iran).

- Why, exactly, does one therefore here "Free Palestine" 100 x more than you hear demands for freedom in these other countries?

- Is it, I mean just possibly, could it be, hatred of Jews?

The Palestinians should be freed, and therefore it is right to say “Free Palestine”.

If it’s also right that other people should be freed, then say that too, but not doing so doesn’t make saying “Free Palestine” wrong; and none of your mad word vomit one-eyed wheedling can make it so. u r an epic shitetalker

Israel makes much of its democratic secular "western" credentials, but when it comes to mistreating people apparently the relevant comparators are Iran and Syria

I DON’T HATE JEWS AND THEREFORE I ENJOY THE SIGHT OF DEAD OR WOUNDED PALESTINIAN CIVILIANS (ESPECIALLY THE CHILDREN)!!

AND THE ONLY REASON SOMEONE WOULDN’T ENJOY THAT SIGHT IS BECAUSE THEY ARE A DISGUSTING ANTI-SEMITE YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE!!

How many of those people are being oppressed by countries for which our leaders express their unconditional support HD?

Also what New Chimp said. If Israel wants its benchmark for its treatment of people to be Iran or Syria or Belarus or Russia it should expect the level of support from the democratic West to be in line with those countries. If it wants to be treated differently it has to act differently. Accept being held to a higher standard. A very large number of Israelis (probably a majority) want to hold themselves to a higher standard as well.

The realistic alternative is to seek a similar relationship with the west to that which the UAE or Qatar have i.e. friendly, allied, but largely transactional and nothing like full cooperation on security.

I think you are just very narrowly read HB

pretty sure you hear a lot about the muslims in china and rohinja in myanmar

you hear a fair bit about ukrainians oppressed by russians

kosovo being bullied by serbia (and kosovo isn't even recognised by some majopr european nations) is back in the news today

you hear about indigenous peoples being murdered in brasil

as examples off the top of my head

I also suspect you hear "free palestine" more often because right whingers love to freak out about it and amplify it hysterially when, the entire history of that movement demonstrates that it's mainly a threat to palestinians and if I was Israel I'd be pouring money into it to make sure an effective lobby group doesn't ever emerge

So the list of oppressed people is:

Tibetans

Syrians

Tigrayans

Iranians

Belarussians and

Palestinians.

Do tell us HBD, in which (if any) of those six examples do you support the party doing the oppressing, and why the difference?  In the case of any example where you don't support the relevant regime, explain why that's not clear evidence you are a racist.  Show all your working (6pts)

“There are 100,000,000s of people around the world facing far worse oppression than the circa 4 million Arabs in the West Bank and Gaza”

This is, faod, obviously fvcking untrue. There are some people oppressed more harshly than the Palestinians, sure. But not many.

On what Laz said you can argue the toss in respect of the position up to 3 weeks ago. Certainly for those in the West Bank. I was in the West Bank less than two years ago and I have been to worse places for sure. But right now it would be hard to find a worse place to be than Gaza. Food and water running out and hundreds of air strikes a day for weeks.
