A good idea, but there does seem to be a need for a reasonable substitute in some contexts. Have people settled on a substitute for when they clean up after their dogs on the street?
A small shovel and put it straight in the nearest bin? My dad has a small rake and scoop set he found on Amazaon so he can collect poo from the lawn and chuck it in the bushes without having to bend down.
That my dear boy is exactly why I'll never own a dog if I live in town. It's only civilised having a dog if you've got a large garden and/or field where it can do its doings.
why not have a poo bag that is made of thick paper, a mix between paper and cardboard. don't tell me it is that difficult to find a solution. mankind flies to mars and the moon. we can also find a solution for collecting dog poo without plastic, frankly, do you not agree?
DD whatever the solution is I have no intention of picking up my dog's poo so will simply never have a dog in town. I was with family on Sunday who live in a suburban street and every time a neighbour's dog barked at something all the dogs in the street would start barking which is another reason not to have a dog in town.
where my mum lives (in a suburb), everybody has a dog and sometimes, not all the time, they would bark together, have a convo so to speak, it is what dogs do. they are dogs and they sometimes bark. but I agree no point in having a dog without having a garden, it is just not good for the dog
picking up your dog's poo is mandatory. if he sh1ts in your garden you have to pick it up too at some point, dog poo does not disintegrate that quickly
heh, remember those crazy times when dogs would just poo on the street and people didn't pick it up. dog poo everywhere and people would just step on turds a lot
we have a couple of local shops that are completely plastic free (v middle class surrey). run out of pasta? just take your jar or pot in and fill up with a scoop like pick n mix. works out about the same price.
what do you say to that article (link above by ???) that states that a dog has a carbon footprint like a land rover? because dogs eat and sh1t? don't we all do that?
Guy I think that's some kind of protest about the availability of bins.
There used to be a single poo bin on the footpath running past a marina I used to go to. On a Sunday afternoon in the summer it would be overflowing with flies all over it and it was vile.
Guy I know what you mean, that tie it to the tree thing is uber minging. Bad enough when it is on the ground but swaying in the wind at chest height is horrid. If there isn't a bin to hand, by all means complain, but still carry it to wherever the nearest is and dispose there rather than sticking it on a tree.
DD see above but I'll spell it out. I believe people hang it from trees to make a point that there is no nearby bin to put it in as we've removed so many public waste bins. By hanging it in a tree they've complied with the obligation to pick it up but have also made a point about the lack of a bin.
There are also some lazy khunts who just can't be bothered to carry it to a bin and reckon it's easier to dangle it from a tree. I assume these are the same people who drop stuff on the pavement because it's too much effort to carry it to the bin further down the pavement that they can see.
There are plastic free fully biodegradable and compostable dog poo bags available but they are double the price of the regular biodegradable bags. They're made of natural polymers derived from maize and other plant products.

it seems every time I watch Dragons Den there is somebody who has invented a vacuum system for sucking up dog poo.

in new york I understand they are exempting bulk buy bags such as bin bags so presumably poo bags also exempt

Surely there is some manner of biodegradable alternative knocking around.

where there is a will there is a way
imagine if nestlé would invest the money they invest in advertising into new materials for replacing single use plastics

typical naysayer argument "but the chinese, and the Indians"
if europe goes zero waste zero emissions this will have a mahoosive impact

as to that link, it's bullshit. pets consume meat, so do we. btw our dog gets raw chicken only, from the local butcher, and our leftovers

Whether you have to pick it up depends on where it does it. Most dogs can be trained into using a specific part of the garden where it doesn't matter.

speaking of poo bags why do people pick up poo in a bag then tie it to a tree? It is beyond understanding, it would be better just to leave it FFS.

do you count plastic bags as 'single use'? I hand mine back to the ocado man (walking cliché shout, I know)
...dogs: we could put down all the nasty aggressive dogs whose owners like to use to intimidate people and never put on a lead....*runs off*
