Watch the news lots, Abbs - haven't seen anything about the Oz fires since Coronavirus broke or the Oz fires going out on it though, the latter of which only seems to have been reported (not on mainstream news reports) in the last 3 says anyway.
Sad to see Usk floods... :(
Scylla - hope you and yours are doing okay in any event if the fires are out now.
On the east coast, the rainy season starts in late January and generally goes through to start of March, so it was a matter of waiting for that. Not sure about other parts of the country.
Oh I'm sorry, I was responding to the part in the OP about fires and whether they were out. I didn't realise only Scylla was supposed to reply to the thread. Maybe send her an email?
There are actually 5 fires still burning within 100km of my location, however, recent rainfall means that the risk for them to spread or get out of control is much, much lower.
I'm a lot further south than most of the rainfall, so we haven't had any flooding here but enough to take the edge off the fires.
I'm in the middle of helping my brother with his insurance claim for his lost outbuildings and their contents and I'm still in the process of clearing up my land/ property which was burnt badly. There is a big community meeting where I will be building tonight to discuss what can and cannot be done.
And as at yesterday I received all the final approvals necessary to start building so YAY!

Well if you'd read the thread we'd already established via Abbs' link that they were out.
Anyone can reply, obv, but also anyone can then reply to those replies. Sorry you didn't realise that.
Thanks anyway.

For the record I'm within the area of the red spots on the 14th Feb map in Abbey's link.
But while the fires are still burning they are contained.
