Halliwells has confirmed that seven partners have jumped ship over the last month alone.

Insurance partners Chris Gough, Louise Shaw and Tim Short all left to join Plexus Law, and litigators Stephen Morris and Julie Bowker jumped ship for DWF. Insurance liability partner Chris Fletcher and real estate partner Ross Wellman have also departed for pastures new.

RollOnFriday can also reveal that another two partners and nine more junior lawyers have also just moved to Irwin Mitchell. They're following partner John Lord who jumped ship back in July.

Halliwells office, how it may look

Combined with the six partners who resigned in September, that's over 10% of the firm's partnership bailing in a matter of weeks. The firm has just announced that revenues are down 16% on this time last year, and October saw reports that it had slashed its salaries by up to 42%. Halliwells is going to need more than its own PR agency to get out of this one...

A spokesman for Halliwells said that many firms had suffered partner departures over the last year. "It is always disappointing when good people leave but we have continued to recruit externally and promote internally during the course of the year and are currently in the process of finalising a number of senior level hires", he claimed.
