A spectacular row has broken out between leading Australian firm Mills Oakley and one of its (now ex-) partners.
Employment partner Luke Connelly sent an extraordinary email to clients and other contacts claiming that he was ordered to act against the best interests of a client. He alleges that when he refused, he was threatened with expulsion. So he quit.
It is not clear what exactly Connolly alleges he was asked to do, or what "misinformation" surrounded his departure. When RollOnFriday asked Mills Oakley, a spokeswoman said, "The email in question is inaccurate, intemperate and unprofessional. Enough said".
If the spat does rumble on, the parties can at least turn to a resource close to home: the articles on employment case law which appear on Mills Oakley's website and written by, errrrrrrr, Connolly. Especially the most recent one, about an employee who insulted his ex-boss on the internet.

"Without descending into the specific detail" - how can the public form an opinion without the other side of the story? Fortunately the legal profession's standards in Australia are still strong, as Mills Oakley has been professional in its response. Unlike their ex-Partner whose rant seems characterized by excessive consumption.

BTW very well drafted and good on you for having the decency to state your position without getting down and dirty and smearing individuals.
All class Luke and very brave. Such behaviour by a supposedly professional law firm needs to be exposed.

Why I am not surprised though?
This is one firm that I would never want to work for, even before reading this.
