I'm grateful to have a very high paying salary and to receive my pay cheque, especially for work that is quite interesting and fun.
I'm not concerned though. At least not yet. And one of the many benefits of a high salary is having some safety cushion (financially speaking) to get you through a bad period in case the worst happens and you get laid off.
Has admittedly felt more significant than in the past, and there was a feeling of relief when I checked my account this morning and saw the balance. Have been clearing debt all morning. Daughter got furloughed yesterday too so need to put away some extra for her.
Sorry, I'm new around here. Humbebrag eh? Let me try...
I don't know how anyone gets by in London on less than £500k. I know I'm not worth nearly that much, but they keep promoting me and won't take no for an answer! Which is good, because the garage bill alone was over a thousand pounds last month (Rovers are so unreliable!), and don't even get me started on the foundation repairs for our little house outside of Marseille. At this rate, I sort of hope the boys don't get into Eton, or we may have to sell some of our art collection.

I am always aware at the back of my mind that each paycheck could be my last. But that's been the case for over a decade.

Canadian, did you say you earn a high salary?
Please follow rof procedure of using humblebrags to indicate salary.
So uncouth.

Surely admitting to earning your income at all is a bit un-ROF

"goodish, but lose points for lack of any timepiece refernce"
Perhaps because the butler deals with those sort of things?
