I am on my third. They are amazing and never had any problems.
What will stop my fourth is the prices. The Octavia coming out next year is £20k for the entry level model. If you want Vrs magic and AWD you probably won't be looking at much change out of £35k.
You can get a 1 year old BMW 4 series 330d X Drive for £25k.
When you look at what you pay over 3 years it's basically the depreciation and you are getting a new car.
In that time if anything goes wrong it's the manufacturer's risk and you will probably pay for one service at most. Plus you don't have the hassle of trying to sell it at the end.
They're not view nice to look at, and the materials are deliberately cheaper than used in the corresponding VW/Audi. If you don't care about that stuff, they're stonking value and brilliantly put together.
I’ve recently been in the back of a Skoda for two lengthy mini cab rides. Was amazed at the comfort, ride, and quality, not how I remembered it when getting a lift from a mates parent when going to hockey practice at primary school. It could barely steer and you were sure the panels would fall away soon. As to the “heating “ dear Lord
The short answer: Because the Iron Curtain fell. Skoda was one of the world's great engineering companies. Then along came communism, and they produced kittens cars. It only took a few years of the free market and they were making good cars again, at which point VW bought them.
I hated my one VW and their dealers are SHIT. To be good (and I don't accept Skoda are) they have outperformed their parent company, not soaked up their magic
I am with the Buzzette on this. There is a small child on a 1980s playground in Hampshire playing British bulldog inside me (not like that you japers) who vowed never to enskode
I have a Seat Leon (which is basically a Skoda) and it's great.
It is quite annoying that in places they have deliberately made it look cheap, just to ensure that people still buy Golfs. For example the rear bumper has a completely gratuitous piece of ugly grey plastic stuck to it!

Actually being good motors probably helped.

Being bought by Volkswagen probably didn’t hurt.

(1) They started making good cars.
(2) They made sure everyone knows they are owned by VW.

but VW are not that good to start with!. SKoda are ranking above them

Reliability used to be the mainstay of the VW brand tho. And VW, Skoda, SEAT probably more all use virtually identical basic platforms.

The Fabia, for example, uses the same base as the Polo. The Octaia uses the same base as the Golf. And they all use VW engines.

They are not Skodas....VW just bought the brand - they are all the same cars
VW
Audi
Seat
Skoda
They are all the same thing...share engines and various platforms.

I've had two, both great. Don't see any reason to change.

I love the anti-cool of the branding. I’ve no need of a car but if I had I’d buy a Yeti. I do have a huawei phone, for same reason

I buy them at 3/4 years old. They run forever, so it's worth letting someone else pay the depreciation.

that's my target age range as well. Been on the lookout for a month and the more you research the more new material keeps coming up. Skoda being one

Mr FF has an Octavia VRS estate. He bloody loves it. Can get from the house to the tip in about 0.45 seconds (and no, we don’t live at the dump).

Trying to persuade the 'zzette to get a used Yeti but her views on Skodas haven't changed since the early 80s.

I am with Wang, Buzette and AP. My brain accepts that they are now very good but my heart sinks at the thought of having a Skoda.

My wife is str8 outta Dnepropetrovsk. Therefore there will never be a Skoda on our driveway.

That's exactly it Gwenno! The thought of owning a skoda
worse than a vauxhall which you can explain away as a company car

1. How do you double the price of a skoda?
Fill up the tank
2. Why do skodas have heated rear windscreens?
To keep your hands warm while your pushing it.
3. What do you call a Skoda with a sun roof ?
A skip
etc...
I am sure they are great. but. its a Skoda.
no ta.

Ahhh 1985 how I missed you.

Another paid up member of the Skoda fan club here. I recently wrote off my fabia estate following an encounter with a HGV. Best car I’ve ever had
Am now the “proud” owner of a Peugeot 307 station wagon and so pretended I am a GhostBuster
Another great plus of my lay car was that Fabia sounds like labia

yo pingu!
why did you not go for another skoda?
