and they trick you into thinking you’re saving the world when you eat it
Omg, the self righteous anger over the 2021(?) advent calendar was HILARIOUS!!
(Day 8's window was EMPTY so consumers would remember that not everyone gets to eat chocolate (which is a wee bit earnest and *eye roll* but well intentioned). The TC marketing pple made up for this with TWO chocolates on Day 9, but that wasn't enough for the residents of Gammonalia who were enraged because they (AND THEIR CHILDREN ) were being "punished" for doing the Right Thing.)
Love TC. The salted caramel is my fave. I do like a sweetish milk chocolate.
I bought a shed load at the airport as a mate convinced me it was gorgeous and I'm a chocoholic and hadn't tried it. It's not nice. Lindt every time. But Bailey - that Marvellous Creations mmmmmmmm. Lovely. Also tried Aldi's imitation Crunchie ice cream lollipops which are delightful and also contain popping candy.
Quite like it, especially the salted caramel one, but yeah, that Cadbury magnificent creations one is lush, and cheaper into the bargain. Milka do something similar, which is a bit too sweet and not as cocoa-ey, can get it cheap in Home Bargains :)
The uneven chunks thing with chocolonely is pretty irritating. What's the relevant equivalent of mansplaining? Chocsplaining ?
seems to be a bit of the "ooh, I like this chocolate because of the stuff they put in it that's not chocolate". The choco itself is over sweet, and almost a grainy consistency.
I guess it's the same people who claim to like beer, but then go on to say how they have raspberry and tuna (or whatever) in it.
I've got half a cupboard full of green and black dark chocolate that is achingly dull and worthy that you can have in return for all the chavvy chocolate that you have but can't bear to inflict on your refined taste buds !
I have recently bought my first bar of this stuff and agree it is acers. Mrs MIC doesn't like it though, claims it tastes of M&S chocolate (which FTAOD is shite)
Cadbury’s proper chocolate is nice, but realistically, Tony’s has topped it like Darce on a trembling G.A.Y. debutant. Id put Rowntree’s ahead of Cadders anyway. Green & Black prob second after Tony’s - chocolate (like beer) is an area where “trendy” new brands generally do deliver.
Tony’s is much, much nicer than Dairy Milk (which is perfectly nice faod). Tony’s is even a little bit nicer than Yorkie, which is the best prole chocolate. Kinder is absolutely rank.
Lindt smooth dark for the win for me. Awesome with a cup of tea.
I am with Laz on the awesomeness of a Yorkie but it has to be the one with biscuit and raisin in it. Perfect mid long countryside walk snack. Also quite a good hangover cure.
+1 for Aldi's in-house chocolate. Surprisingly tasty.
Lindor balls are great but in a cold country climate you have to heat them in your armpits so that the centre liquifies. Otherwise you might as well be eating chocolate in block form. Apart from that, the UK is a strong chocolate jurisdiction.
I also enjoy the various forms of Ritter Sport including the white chocolate with macadamia nuts, which I'm sure purists will say is not Real Chocolate.
Ritter Sport Marzipan is amazing. Was having a discussion with someone else about Lindt fruit balls this morning too! I miss the orange flavour. (nb these are distinct from the big Lindt balls)

it's nice but the no squares thing is a bit annoying imo

Controversial but i really do not like this stuff, much as i have tried to. Sickly.
Whereas Cadburys Magnificent Creations which has jelly beans and popping candy AND smarties in is a delight.

I agree with bailey on Tony's. Her love of my beans is an unexpected bonus.

Aldi chocolate is very good. The Choceur stuff. They do a 60% dark one which is soooo creamy.

Co-op's chocolate bars are very good for the money.
I'm OK with chocolonely but I agree the random block pattern is infuriating; my favourite UK chocolate remains - Galaxy.

It's disgusting, what is it made of? It has weird striations in it which I suspect are strings of the devil's sperm.

A fair range of opinions here, although while it’s fair to prefer other types of chocolate, to argue that Tony’s is “not nice” is clearly plain wrony

This is peak RoF. Did you w**kstains gripe about Chomps when you were 7?
"No mama. I couldn't possibly. Does one have any pure cacao?"

I like chomps (prefer curly wurly), I like dairy milk. They are gr8 at what they are.
Tony chocolony is meant to be something else fancy, and it's not even as nice as dairy milk. meh.

Kinder Bueno
Twirl
Twix

the correct answer is Marabou Black Salt Liquorice

Kinder Bueno is entry level chocolate. It's literally marketed at sub 5 yr olds to get them hooked.

@ b'man i may have missed the posts that didnt profess an affection for mass produced choc... please clean the sand out of your vagina. Tx

A twix is deffo a biscuit and not a chocolate bar

I occasionally buy a bar of Cadburys Marvellous Creations if it’s a rainy depressing day and the popping candy raises my spirits.

Twirl is good. Twin is a chocolate bar and a biscuit - the categories are not mutually exclusive.

FWIW, a Crunchie is amazing but I hate a Dairy Milk. But I’m more inclined to savoury anyway.

Yorkie is utter, utter shit. And reveals a lot about you, laz. Smh

Just had a square (or two) or divine 70% with orange and ginger. Never had it before. The bar will not see morning.
