Rory McIlroy

He seems to get a lot of shit from everyone for working out and trying to stay in shape—more than other golfers doing the same thing.

He's happy to respond and dish it out and post his workouts on social media, which probably doesn't help him, but the comparisons to Tiger Woods are a bit lazy.

So he hasn't turned out to be quite the golfer everyone expected, but he's no doubt better off physically from the training. Certainly his back and core anyway.

Yeah and did you see what she said about him after they broke up? To summarise he made her miserable and was an egotistical sod. He banned her from wearing high-heels when they were out together because it showed up what a short-arse he is.

‘So he hasn't turned out to be quite the golfer everyone expected’

This is surely nonsense. By many measures he’s the most successful euro golfer of all time. Won more in America than Faldo or Seve did. Four majors is the second most of anyone still playing on tour (Mickelson only on six at twenty years older). Only the Masters for a career slam. All this playing in an insanely deep era. look at the likely Ryder Cup US team. Best ever put out.

what did anyone expect him to be?

I think they expected it to continue.

He dumped her in a three minute phone call, and hasn't spoken to her since. Their wedding innovations had just gone out.

It's absolutely brutal but he probably had a tee time so needs must.

Warwick - US team at Walton Heath in ‘81 is generally regarded as the strongest RC team ever, and if you compare that stellar 12 to the likely (albeit strong) US team this year I’m pretty sure that it will still hold good.

If you look at Rory’s physique back in 2010 when he ‘arrived’ with that incredible closing 62 at Quail Hollow, he looks considerably less muscle-bound than now. His swing back then also seems so silky smooth, echoes of the great Fred Couples swing.

In some respects he’s done a Faldo, who also had a beautiful swing in his younger days, but under Leadbeater he changed it into more of a ‘grinding’ swing. But Sir Nick was successful with his changes, unlike Rores to date.

But in truth it’s down to his putting - which seems to have deserted him largely over the last 4-5 years. His distance control with wedges is also pretty ropey.

It went mammaries up when he sold out to Nike.  Their clubs sent him back down the order.

He gets an easy ride from journalists, which suggests that he is easy to get on with, but he seems to have a habit of doing things that make him hard to warm to.

his issues are totally and utterly 100% mental. it is fooking sad watching him shit the bed on day 1 and then shoot great scores when he has no pressure on him. that is basically what he does  now

I once watched him swim as we were in the same gym. He was good on the treadmill but swam like an aquaphobic granny. He was with one of his team who swam pretty well and kept lapping him.
