I hope it is a sign of a change in the times. Now we need Tusk to consolidate his win, Hungary and Turkey to follow suit.
I honestly thought, as I bumbled through the 80s and 90s, got married, built our own house, worked for the family business, that extreme right wing and left wing politics was dead and the world was working towards a society in which common sense and good will would be everyone's main motivation. There were obvious glitches - the Balkan wars stick out - but I never thought it would be entirely one way.
My first suspicion that things were going wrong was the SCOTUS ruling that handed the 2000 election to George Bush, in what was clearly a dereliction of duty, followed by the emergence of the Tea Party.
