This is great for Labour to prevent complacency in a general. Couldn’t have been planted better by Labour’s spin team.

Every Labour supporter should be talking constantly about how they won’t get a majority in a general election based on recent results.
Every vote counts.

Every recent poll for the General Election have Labour with a minimum majority of 150 seats. Sky trying to keep the fight interesting.

In fact I’ve seen Owen Jones a couple of times on Twitter recently playing the “Labour are on track for a massive majority, so you can vote Green or Independent with a clean conscience” card.
So I wouldn’t be surprised if this was nudged into a headline by Labour’s spin team.

It’s a completely pointless forecast. It is what it says it is, but applying a swing in local elections uniformly across the entire country in a general is obviously stupid nonsense.

Both parties losing votes to the minor parties sounds entirely plausible. Must place my bet on Labour’s margin being much lower than expected.

It also excludes Scotland and Wales where no local elections are taking place pancakes - ie, places which are likely to heavily vote Labour (especially in Scotland where they are likely to pick up seats from the SNP).
But still it'll be really funny if it actually happens.
