well he definitely lied to his own party to win the leadership. But many people are prepared to turn a blind eye to that because he's dragged labour rightwards a little bit, at least rhetorically
SKS's biggest concern may actually be to ensure that he doesn't win the GE and then effectively get deposed by a more left wing element in his own party.
Labour certainly have some previous form on this front - eg when moderate Andrew McIntosh led Labour to victory in the GLC elections only soon after to be deposed by 'Red' Ken Livingstone in a left-wing coup.

He’s a big fat whey faced middle manager type, we are going to have his nasal brittas empire tones to enjoy for the next 10 years. Can’t get that excited tbh

i have a rare case of not entirely disagreeing with u. he’s got v little charisma, he doesn’t inspire. he’s v grey. he can’t help his voice, but it isn’t a com4ting 1.
however, it’s ur fault and the fault of tozza ultras like u that we will end up with him in charge 4 so long, and that it will b such a trouncing.
so i am just going 2 enjoy u lot reaping wot u have sown
Everyone knows he's not exciting, not charismatic, has a nasal voice and so on. So what? Politicians should be competent, not exciting. If he can manage that who really cares about the rest
cos u and ur lot massively overreached with entirely stupid and damaging policies, like brexit and trussnomics
and u supported them 2 the hilt, cheered them. despite rampant corruption and a clear lack of integrity, let alone ne interest in actually improving britain
that foolish shortsightedness has almost guaranteed a decade of bland starmer. the country has now seen wot the tozzas really r

o i completely agree
but as can b seen from the fact the country voted in boris johnson (ffs), sadly quite a lot of voters do care about the rest
the important thing is that those that voted tozza get their noses rubbed in it
Andy Burnham seems a bit charmless, looks like he could start a fight in a 'phone box.
Yvette Cooper blows with the wind.
Rachel Reeves has gravitas, but shares Starmer's timidity for pussy-footing around especially with nationalisation, which should be Labour's #1 priority.
Liz Kendall is lovely and would be brilliant, but might alienate the Left.
if SKS wins a five ton megamadge, or even a small madge after a decade and a half in the wilderness for no explicable reason, there ain’t no way he’s getting deposed. Don’t be a silly boy.
Nobody cares whether Starmer has charisma. People thought - weirdly - that Johnson had charisma, and he was hopeless, worst prime minister ever except the handful of even worse tory ones.
People want competence and probity and (despite the ludicrous OP) Starmer has both. Who on earth would look at the stage of Britain and the progress of its politics over the last 10yrs and think - I know what we need! More wasted years of reality-free bullshit-spouting fvck ugly “charismatic” ideologies breaking the country over one fringe issue after another?
In the eyes of 99.99999999999% of the electorate, now is the hour of the centrist dad. You wheedling extremist idiots are going to have a LOT to suck up for the next twenty years - a whole lot of Sensible to suck the fvck up. We are going to enjoy watching you choke on it.
Stephen Kinnock as the Centrist Dad candidate would be decent. Gets the Welsh vote on side, doesn’t mind speaking truth to power, usually comes across well.

In terms of inspiring and not obnoxious Labour types, who would you choose instead?
I’d say Andy Burnham but his principles seem to blow with the wind. Nandy likewise. Dan Jarvis?

There's really only choice imo: Hilary Benn.

Still, all of the above together would comprise a solid Cabinet of statesmen and women.
