IIRC Boris doesn't do great on stage when someone actually calls out his bullshit, but he's got more draw than May (tbf, my left bollock with a smiley face drawn on it could do better than May)
Corbyn is pretty weak outside his clique, but Tories are quite damaged now and not sure how popular Boris is in non tory hardcore areas
Plus now we have Farage who might be coming off the back of a "we can do it" Europe surge
completely coin toss, but I'm gonna say he'd take a punt because he'd want 5 years and not the dregs of May's term
If Boris becomes PM, I don't think there will be a GE this year. Not least because he will have been asked to rule that out by so many people in the leadership battle.
The Tories picking their new leaders is always a weird one - they usually seem to disregard the no-brainer candidate(s) and end up with either a grey inbetweener or an outlier in a 'fingers crossed / will this do?' sort of way. Sometimes gets lucky.
Labour might call a vote of no confidence if we are heading towards a cliff-edge in October - which seems likely. I would LOL if Johnson's PM-ship lasted about 2 months.
In some ways I want no deal brexit to happen and let the economy sink. Let the rabid loons of far right and far left realise how roundly they fooked the country and the next two generations (at least).
Re Bo Jo - he will give us a more remainer friendly deal than May's deal.

True usually.
Loathsome seems to be setting herself up as the compromise candidate
Mr Johnson may get to be leader of the Conservative Party. A horrible idea, and a position in which he will not be effective as all Conservative MPs already fear, loathe and distrust him.
However, he will NOT get to be Prime Minister. That is because the number of Conservative MPs who have said they will resign the Conservative whip if he becomes leader is big enough that the COnservatives would lose their majority in the House of Commons and would not be able to form a government.
I wish you were write Dal, but MPs change with the circumstances - especially if they fear for their jobs - witness Gove's blatant chicanery on the subject of Johnson this morning on the Today programme.

Brexiteers will worry that Boris is a closet Remainer or, at best, an opportunist who will do anything to boost his career.
Remainers won't vote for someone who (ostensibly at least) is anti-EU.

Of course he won't. He's wanted to be PM for yonks. A GE would bring a very real risk of him not being PM anymore.
I am/was a Tory Remainer. I wouldn't vote for him. I'm sure there are plenty in my position.

Can there be a less appealing creature than a Tory Remainer? They must be nearly extinct by now anyway.

Farage cant win proper elections, a proven fact. The Brexit Party has no policies.

Actually dux in the referendum 42% of conservative voters at the general election in the previous year voted Remain.
So hardly extinct.

I agree with someone at the weekend who doesn't think there will be an election before 2022.
