I retired the character as I felt that I had done all I could with it.
Am I ruling out a Christmas special or something similar in a year or two? Well never say never, but for the moment I think the public welcomes the rest.
Well that was the problem - the character had shifted from a light satire on the nature of a post modern acquisitionist society to simply being a grotesque, reliant on catchphrases and continual upping of the odds - I mean how many ‘dream gaffes’ can be bought before it becomes formulaic?
Also, society has changed and, as with “Some Mothers Do ‘Ave ‘Em”, comedy based upon the hapless bumbling of a clearly deeply mentally disturbed individual may yield some laugh out loud moments but for the most part is probably now best avoided.

I still kinda miss Down the Gym with Strutter though

It tipped over from comedy to tragedy - a bit like Peep Show. Now it appears to be a 60 something male giving himself a daily pep talk at 4am on an abandoned message board about how his life choices aren’t tragic and he isn’t lonely and anyone who says otherwise is probably just jealous or something

But dux, you think any exercise beyond rotating slightly in your office chair is incomprehensible so you may not be the best judge here.

Err how?
Down the gym with strutter was about strange things that I saw down the gym - i.e. things that other people had done.
It was never about me, I just narrated.

LOL @ vanity searching and resurrecting a nearly 4year old thread. Are you having some sort of breakdown as reality bites?
