Do any of them have tough but honourable English, Anglo Saxon or Ancient Briton soldier heroes (preferably with a loyal Irish sidekick) who inspires the loyalty of his troops and the jealousy of higher born but less competent men and who always beats the odds (and gets at least one pretty girl) despite an initial setback or two?
If not then they don’t really sound the thing for me.
strutter, that is uncanny--that is the exact plot of the novel she was working on when she died. It's unclear whether the unfinished manuscript would be published. I suggest you start a letter-writing campaign to Knopf.
Hell, I’ll even finish it for them. I reckon a desperate last stand in a hill fort or abandoned monastery surrounded by a bloodthirsty foe, but it turns out that the hero is just the bait in a trap in order that a loyal ally and a new and unexpected friend can pile in and turn defeat into victory.
And in the course of dealings, a mystery from the past unexpectedly is being solved so everything falls into place and the hero can become the beloved king of the people he saved
Strutter no I don’t think so but there is one about a band of soldiers court marshalled for a crime they didn't commit, escaped from a military prison and, while still on the run, working as soldiers of fortune. One of them, the good looking one, befriends the daughter of a local businessman who is being threatened by some Spanish speaking bad guys who live in a compound. Trapped in the compound, they must devise an escape using only an old truck and some welding equipment.

Beloved is a masterpiece, but you won't like it.

What is it about and why would I not like it? Has she written anything merry/serene, not so heavy?

I love it when that happens.

But what will they use for ammunition?
How about those turnips, fired with compressed air?

Yes that’s the kind of incentive twist Toni likes to put in.
