I got a schooling today from a friend who has spent nearly a decade acquiring British citizenship. - said it was a disgrace people not voting. He is right!
I did put aside all the bumpf that came through, just gone through it. Lib Dem all round except for one of the Lon Assembly members who I know to be good egg so will vote for him.
If you want to vote it is not hard to either produce ID you already have or obtain one for free. Even poor people will often already have photo ID. Unbelievable I know. Certainly seems unfathomable to the chattering classes.
JRM admitted the photo id was a bit of gerrymandering, young people that do not vote Tory are less likely to have a vaild ID than old people that vote Tory
Chuffy a leading Tory politician has admitted that the motiviation to require voter ID was not to prevent fraud but to try to prevent people unlikely to vote Tory from voting. Why you think that is not a big deal is beyond me.
everyone knows the majority of late teens and early twenty somethings are pre-occupied with their own lives and somewhat dis-organised. Obviously requiring them to obtain and bring an ID was a cynical ploy to put some of them off. It is rather reductive to just say young people should vote, it is more about how they can be encouraged to do so and what can smooth (rather than roughen) their path to doing so.
Young people could resist that attempt by getting ID, Guy.
whereas old people can vote by using their bus pass as ID, which is handed to them for free. Travel passes for young people are not valid ID for voting purposes. There's no getting away from the fact that it's gerrymandering.

Remember - the Tories have used his photo ID con to disenfranchise poorer people so vote labour.

Clubbers - do you have to produce photo ID to receive, and again to post, a postal vote?

No, you have to have previously provided a signature which is compared with the signature provided alongside your postal vote

Labour have not said they will repeal photo id.

Postal vote here. Polling station has moved to an inconvenient location. 5 minutes to register online. Easy peasy Tory sleazy

Labour have said they will not bring back anyone already sent to Rwanda and they will not seek to re-enter the single market or the eu as a whole

My polling station is across the road from the mayor’s house. They moved it so he doesn’t have to go so far to get there.

Anyone who cannot get some form of ID to vote probably shouldn’t be allowed to vote. Tories included.
The hysteria over this is up there with the ‘banning cheques will cause old people to starve’ nonsense.

On my way to vote Conservative m7s. Khan needs his feet held to the fire. Hoping for a closer result than he expects.

Heh, this sounds familiar, was it Judy who voted for Brexit on this basis?

Young people could resist that attempt by getting ID, Guy. This country will only change when young people start voting.
