A Brisbane lawyer has mistaken law firms for cheap car insurance dealers and set up a website for customers to search for lawyers on a price and ratings basis.
Melissa Sinopoli set up the website LawyerQuote since shethought it would be a good money spinner wanted to help people find the right lawyer at a price within budget. The website provides fixed price quotes so customers can compare what different law firms charge for various services.
Sinopoli claims she is helping customers by “demystifying” the legal industry. However, Queensland Law Society president, Bill Potts provided some caution, saying the public should be wary that it may not be transparent as to "who is providing the ratings". Potts also said that legal matters are not always straightforward, or can be properly quoted*.
