Allens Arthur Robinson is clearly eager to beef up in Western Australia: it is offering a gargantuan referral fee of $20,000 to staff who successfully recruit new employees to the Perth office.

As RollOnFriday somehow managed to predict back in June 2010, Perth is fast becoming a top notch destination for law firms with its abundant resources and proximity to the lucrative Chinese market.

The $20k golden thank you to any staff member who brings a new employee to the Perth office is twice that offered in the Melbourne or Sydney offices. And the gravy train doesn't stop there. Financial incentives are also being handed out to staff who pass on details of potential candidates, even if they're not hired, according to Lawyers Weekly. So round up your unemployed mates and your gran.

The recruitment drive is being put down to the fact that Western Australia generally managed to escape the worst of the GFC, thanks to a fistful of large scale projects underway there. And it seems there just aren't enough hot shot lawyers in Western Australia to deal with the sexy international work available in the region. According to Perth partner Tim Lester "very quickly the market has once again become very tight so we do need to look beyond the available pool of resources here."
