Edward Karkowski of Willoughby Council is being investigated by the Independent Commission Against Corruption following accusations that he received sexual favours from developers.

Karkowski works as a building inspector in Chatswood and it is alleged that he received, inter alia, expensive food and wine and the free attentions of working girls from developers to encourage him to turn a blind eye to various offences. The accusations include that he received "happy ending massages" at the Oriana Bath House in return for agreeing not to report the bath house for operating an illegal (as opposed to state-sanctioned and regulated) brothel. And then he claimed overtime for it.

Karkowski told the inquiry that it was all "just a bit of pressure relief off the valve". Yuck.

    Pressure being relieved yesterday

Phone taps reveal the oversexed inspector boasting to friends about his bunk-ups. And that he had passed confidential documents to developers and backdated other documents to allow fines to be dodged.

Karkowski admits going for long lunches and claming overtime for, ummm, manual relief. Although he told the inquiry that all the free sex wasn't a bribe, but merely "a gesture of thank you". Generous to a fault.

The inquiry continues.
