RollOnFriday futurologists can exclusively reveal that the new London Managing Partner for Clifford Chance will be the firm's head of capital markets, David Bickerton. Well, probably.

Jeremy Sandelson stepped down from the role last week after being elected head of global litigation. Elections for his successor are just kicking off, and the Lawyer reports that both Bickerton and Mark Stewart, currently head of finance, have put themselves forward.

Nominations have only just opened and other candidates could throw their hats in the ring, so congratulations to Bickerton are technically slightly premature. But Stewart has apparently told his partners that he reckons he can do the job in just three days a week, and he's prepared to take a pay cut if he gets it. Anyone who thinks that managing the biggest office of the world's biggest law firm is a part time job worth less than fee-earning has got to be on a losing ticket.

    David Bickerton next month

A spokeswoman said that the firm couldn't comment as it wasn't yet clear who was standing, and that results would be out over the next few weeks. Yeah, yeah, whatever. RollOnFriday has good form on this, correctly predicting Allen & Overy's new Managing and Senior Partners in last year's election. It's Bickerton.
