Something of a change of pace - perhaps sparked by the false start for Summer 2011, we've decided to take a (short) break from reviewing our favourite foodie and drinkie spots throughout London. Instead we're going to give in to our Seasonal Affective Disorder and spend our blues away - in short, we're going to buy ourselves something pretty.

Thankfully for us and our S.A.D, Nigel Hall is someone who knows how to move, at ease, with the seasons. He has been producing memorable menswear for around a decade now and is at the forefront of modern British fashion. He is renowned for his innovative use of modern materials but with classic designs in contemporary styles. Confusing, right?

Calm down dear - it's just a shirt. Now iron it.

Don't worry about all the jumble. Just remember Nigel Hall makes pretty shirts and stuff and you'll get the right idea.

Our biggest thrill is the range of shirts - specifically the Gino shirt which are quality tailoring - the material, the buttons, the cut and the stitching are all, as far as we can tell, indicative of the sort of quality we should expect for the reassuringly expensive £95 a shirt. It's really that simple - it feels great on the hanger and draped across our enormous shoulders which is always a good sign. We wish we could go into more detail but our mother used to buy our cloths before we met our wife who now dictates what we should buy so actually our working knowledge of what makes this great is relatively limited. Suffice to say it feels good and it looks good. Which reminds me of that David Beckham joke from years ago.

Anyway - apart from the highly scientific examination of 'the feel', we're also extremely impressed by the design. True to form, Nige has come up with modern shirts that look great at work and just as good (and relaxed) when out for beers after office hours. Mainly the floral lining (the 'yoke') will set you out as a man of distinction who likes his expensive clothes but isn't afraid to show his sensitive and feminine side by embracing floral lining. Or something like that.

Be sure to get yourself a shirt and, if the weather continues to degrade, reward yourself with a Macfly coat - it's absolutely beautiful.
