So this IPCC report

suggesting we have 12-15 years to stop humanity boiling in the pan like a frog.

It's lucky this came out when we have visionary leaders in charge.

How come this hasn't been bigger news?

I don't even know what the IPCC is m7 tbh.

Are frogs boiled alive?  Seems unlikely, they'd be a bugger to keep in the fridge until you needed them.  Hold on, there are 2 in the marmalade.

Intergovernmental panel on climate change.

Boxperson - so your complaint is that they've been saying for ages this is going to happen, now they're saying "it's happening".  Presumably before doing anything about it you want to wait until they can say "oh look, it happened"?

Re frogs, if you put one in cold water and boil it slowly, it will stay there.  If you try and put it straight into boiling water it will get out.  I'm not sure if it works with kittens and children.

The idea that we can really still do anything at all is just a sop to PR.

We're fooked, the planet is collapsing around us on absurdly short time scales.

But I'm sure as the last of the coral dies aunts like the above will still be going "actually the scientists told us it would all be dead by 2025 NOT 2030 so who was really correct here??"

Heh. What pancakes said basically.

It doesn’t matter now. We - as a species - cannot make big enough changes to stop or reverse climate change now. It’s all posturing.

The time we we could have done it was the 70s and 80s when (relatively) modest changes could have successfully changed course. Doing it now is like trying to turn the Titanic when the prow is already brushing the iceberg.

We need to accept our children and grandchildren will live in a radically different and much less comfortable world.
