France quarantined

Schapps is being ruthless.

I'm surprised that you didn't recall that my wine deliveries came from BBR rather than mainstream supermarkets, especially given that you've commented on my posts mentioning them which you then denied reading.  I can only assume the excess UV light over the last few days has, absent adequate shading, irradiated the paucity of loosely collected misfiring neurons you have in lieu of a brain.

not physically in directory obviously  but publically accessible, even if not no doubt the trace and test enforcers have access to ex directory numbers.

You do Lady P, they just don't use it.  Most broadband services require a landline.

Yeah but if there's never been a phone plugged into it and you have no idea what number is technically attributed to it, then you don't have a land line for the purposes of people being able to call you on it.

Yeah course Guy.  They'll just presumably ring every Smith in the book looking for Bob Smith who's given them an incorrect address and phone number.

And he's not even called Bob.

Or Smith.

Apart from that, childsplay.

Are you in separate rooms when you tag team on a thread or sitting together?

Lady P, yes that is true, ironically, test and trace could probably get your number even though you don't know it yourself.  If the line is dead because there is no physical phone attached then they can send somebody around.  I doubt it will plod in the first instance but one of the thousands of test and trace team who are currently doing bugger all.

SS, they will have your passport details you cant give a false name.  From passport details they will have access to databases that give address and phone number.

Sam I believe they take your form at immigration so will check it against your passport so tricky giving a false name unless you’re a master criminal with a few passports in assorted names.

LP it’s not infallible but guess if they were suspicious they could also check mobile phone data to see which masts your phone has connected to.

Linda Guy is talking about the fact the two of you post on threads at the same time when it’s likely you’re in the same room together.  Other Rofers don’t often post whilst in the same room as another poster.

LP it’s not infallible but guess if they were suspicious they could also check mobile phone data to see which masts your phone has connected to.

What a colossal waste of time and taxpayers' money that would be.

I don't think breaching quarantine is a dishonest act, in the sense of criminal law.

As for land-lines.  Not had one for years and only had one previously because I lived in rural Oxfordshire where there was nada mobile phone service unless I was in one particular room in my house.

criminal law isnt the issue here, the SRA is

I will do x

I then do not do x (wilfully)

Thats dishonest no doubt

Not worth the risk, I have heard of people being called / checked up on 1st hand

Exactly roger - the Sra is nuts anyway and would probably love to strike off a junior solicitor for this (not a partner who could fight back with decent lawyers obviously)

How on Earth is it an SRA dishonesty issue to break quarantine? It’s an incredible stretch to call it “dishonesty” On the basis that you acknowledged a legal requirement (on the form when entering) and then breached that requirement.

Is speeding also a dishonesty issue if you sign a form saying you will follow traffic laws and then you do 75 on the motorway?

PS - I can confirm that they will not be checking your mobile phone location data FFS. Of course it’s technically possible but just costs too much. Even for actual missing kids cases the police don’t do it routinely and it needs approval from senior officers etc.

“I haven't had a land line for 7 years.  The last people to call me on it died just before.”

Tbf if people who had already died (even just a short while ago) were calling me on my landline, I would have probably got rid of it pretty damn quickly too....

I came on here to say what struandkirk just said. There is no dishonesty issue at all. Say you get caught red-handed by the police going for a walk. You didn’t intend to go for a walk now when you decided to go to France two weeks ago. You just got sick of the quarantine and decided to break the law. That isn’t dishonest.
