Why is Denly playing T20 ahead of Banton? This is a by-product of the bollocks one coach for all formats rule, just like Buttler and Bairstow being given far too much loyalty in the Test arena.
Moving Buttler to the top of the order leaves a gaping hole in the middle.
Not the end of the world but if you need 7 runs off 7 balls why are two players getting caught in the deep? Keep the ball down and you are guaranteed to win.
Malan should be in for Denly. But Morgan’s making him sit on the naughty step after having a go at him after his hundred v NZ.
And Woody should have gone in instead of Rashid - realistically we needed a boundary off the last ball, and although Rash can guide it to 3rd man boundary, Woody is a much better hitter.
He certainly isn’t a bad player FF but England have better T20 players.
Diablo it was poor game management. Just like the last ODI which England tried desperately to throw away. Tom Curran in both games has just thrown his wicket away trying to blast every ball when the circumstances (certainly in the first game) warranted a different approach.

I’ve seen Denly take attack apart for Kent in T20, absolutely murdered Surrey in a game where Morkel was playing.
his approach in test matches is atypical. Team player.

Denly doesn’t really seem suited to any form of international cricket. Not bad and any of them but not great at any either.

He has been our best no3 since Trott. Not saying a huge amount, granted, but he has made a huge difference to the feel of the team
