They are building one of these in our local park, next to a nursery. As in literally building it at the moment.
Our local Facebook/whats app etc groups have gone nuts with people 'shocked and horrified' by this and sharing petitions etc to stop it. If you try to point out that their fears are absolute bollocks and that according to the WHO you are as likely to get cancer from eating picked vegetables they don't want to know.
It's scary how quickly this crap spreads, you can see how the antivaxxers and other conspiracy theorists are able to do it.
Also scary that people who you think are sane believe this kind of nonsense

You should just tell them that they will be able to complain quicker on Facebook once the mast has been built.

Those things fry your brain don't they?

Queenie, I suspect we live in the same part of town. Is this also next to some tennis/football courts?

Yes Martian. Have you seen the petition?!
The 'research paper' it is based on doesn't even mention 5G!

On our local nextdoorhowlingatthemoon.co.uk there have been a load of people, worried about 5G mobile who have also managed to confuse that with 5Ghz wi-fi and are now convinced they are not only at risk of getting cancer of the everything from 5G mobile but have probably already got cancer of the everything from their home wi-fi. They walk among us. fooktards.

Don't blame them for being worried. The Establishment / Deep State will always try to convince us these things are ok. Remember BSE??

I don't blame them for being worried. I blame them for being stupid.

I saw it on the local FB group but haven’t read it in detail. The only thing I may have an issue with is if it is an eyesore, but I can deal with that. I have gripes with the nursery it is next to and they are probably getting a lot of parental grief as a result. Guilty heh.

My youngest was at that nursery :) I am intrigued!
The slightly unhinged owner was up in arms about it two years ago when this was announced
bet none of the parents are so concerned as to take their little darlings out though

on the upside Buzz this kind of thing does work as a useful idiot filter tool

Agreed, they charged me to be on their waiting list and then didn’t deal with our application when they were supposed to. Got owner to apologise and refund, which is usually against policy. Mini M is going to the nearby school nursery as from Jan so I suspect I will be seeing those precious parents on a daily basis

If you really want to make their day/ ignite the outrage give them an intro to the Communications Code and what it allows mobile providers to force down landowners throats
*you're welcome *

Heh I didn't know that
seems pointless anyway to point out that their petition is useless as the mast is actually being built as we speak
