For the beeb yes wont end well. For tozzas depends way behind polls now creating a cultural war and Home Secretary made controversy they might think this one is a good battle.
if the Beeb was a company the customers and shareholders would be able to pressure management into resigning due to damage to brand
problem is that
- the shareholders are the government and the customers do not fund the Beeb directly and voluntarily, and
- the government has decided to target enemies of the state and if the BBC is collateral damage then so be it
so this results in damage to the BBC brand over the next few years which the government will likely not just refuse to stop, but will probably also accelerate for political reasons
what it probably also means is that when Labour get into power they may feel justified in taking a right wing institution of some kind and targeting it in revenge
Why are the BBC such utter dickheads? They should have just said Lineker’s views are entirely irrelevant to his work for the BBC as an independently contracting sports presenter and left it at that. As it is they are being made to look total arses, football coverage is trashed and Lineker will no doubt end up at a rival.
I don't think that labour will do anything of the sort. They'll purge the obvious Tory plants at the beeb and replace with sensible people and the right will howl about bias because they are melts.

I believe final score is also at risk. Basically football has boycotted the beeb today. This won't end well for the tozzas.

Labour were too lily livered on this too - a few days ago front benchers were on saying lineker had gone too far, they are backtracking now.

RR I don’t mean Keir necessarily
but politics here is headed the way it is in the US where it is not just accepted but expected that regimes will “pack the bench” in all areas

I note it’s ok for the BBC chairman to be an absolute political sock puppet

Guy - Tories doing to the BBC what they are doing to the EHRC
packing the bench do ensure it is Tory friendly
if that means destroying the brand and purpose of the organisation then so be it - they don’t care

Heh this is all turning out exactly as I hoped.
It can't be long before Michael MacIntyre stands down from presenting The Wheel in solidarity.

Football Focus replaced by Bargain Hunt. Which is what the Beeb will probably do if Lineker walks.

Anyhow, who the heck on here actually ever watches BBC for any sport now?
All matches are covered much better and in more depth elsewhere.
Surely even Jethro can afford a Sky/BT sports subscription?

Skiing isn’t covered elsewhere. Or at least not that’s easily accessible.

Eurosport cover skiing and ski jumping comprehensively.
Usually part of your Sky Q package.

Sounds like there could be a way back in for Jeremy Clarkson, at this rate.
Maybe for Le Tissier and Hoddle too!
