Sitting at my desk on South Bank I often look out across the Thames watching the boats go whizzing along at what looks like 100 knots an hour, (especially that pesky London Clipper, grrr!). I frequently daydream to the opening scene of the James Bond film where Pierce Brosnan races across London on a boat chasing baddies, and causing explosions and high-speed boat acrobatics. What a thrill it would be to see that happen in real life, or indeed to be James Bond. That’s probably why I was drawn towards this story in Lincoln this week.

A proper high speed boat chase of James Bond epic proportions, (well kind of) took place on Brayford Pool, much to the bemusement and awe of onlookers. Police pursued the man after he had allegedly been drinking and shouting obscenities at nearby sea cadets.

Ok, so I am not saying that I want to move to Lincoln on the off chance that this may happen again, but it sure seems a lot more exciting than the current view from my desk.
