Your Type

The thread about heights and sizes made me think about the fact that I often get asked by ladies on dating sites what my type is and the reality is that I don't have a physical and have been in love with blondes, brunettes and red heads over the years ranging from as tall as me to much shorter.

How common though is it having a type?  I've only known one or two of those people where every one of their partners looked similar and a few more people obviously attracted to a certain kind of person but most people I know seem pretty flexible when it comes to what they find attractive.

yep the type is, fairly attractive (although I seem to be getting less fussy as I get older, which is convenient), intelligent, interesting, and holds a similar political/social viewpoint.

No huge specifics on looks.

I have what's an ideal but that's fantasy only and bears no resemblance to those I'm attracted to IRL and my past boyfs haven't looked at all like each other or been that type. Attraction is very hard to define, which is why online dating is such a minefield. When I'm asked that question I tend to say I don't have a type but list a few attributes I find attractive instead as that's far more telling.

I have noticed, (purely anecdotal this, never seen this posited as a theory anywhere) that red headed men always seem to have blonde wives.

Any ginger roffers care to comment?

I don’t know whether we’ve been together for two decades because he’s my type, or he’s my type because we’ve been together two decades. He was tall, dark, boyish and ripped. He’s now tall, silver, distinguished and still pretty ripped.

I don't really mind what men look like.  If they engage me in intelligent conversation and make me laugh, they are good.

However, I do have a preference for men who are not overweight.

so long ago to try to remember, but broadly, cute smart interesting, good taste in music

not so much defined physically, although generally not too tall. athletically built fine tho, I “dated” (tho we did not call it that) a couple of student athletes

I probably always wanted to settle with a woman who had her own career, partially because I like strength and energy in women but partially because I always subconsciously wanted to have a family but the thought of having to work solidly for 20yrs to support one has always terrified me

They're probably looking for a four-letter Myers-Briggs answer.

Total red flag, as Myers-Briggs is as well founded scientifically as crystal healing or graphology.

I definitely used to have a type, but in personality rather than looks.

Mr Fox is totally different, it turns out the type I thought I liked was just a disaster. Or a series of disasters more accurately.

akchually, I know who my perfect woman is but she's married... it's Victoria Coren

Hugely intelligent, immensely funny and you just know she does dangerous things we never hear about

Alice Roberts is up there but I prefer her as a red head than a blonde and I think she can be a little too enthusiastic on the atheism and feminism for me.

VC has only one bad thing going for her, I don't like her brother.

I definitely have (had) a type before that I was super attracted to, BUT - it never stopped me from getting to know someone who didn't fit the pattern. My wife looks nothing like the type I used to have, but she's the one I married and it is the best decision I ever made!

I like a lot of fake - lips, nails, t1ts, tan, hair etc

decent tattoos, particularly thigh

petite and slightly muscled

durty

these type of women have caused me a lot of stress and financial loss in my life

Dunno what it is, but I seem to have a thing for tall, slim, intelligent, funny, easy going, attractive women with lovely smiles who smell heavenly.  It’s weird, I know.

Having a "type" is a good looking people's privelige

Like everything else to do with a topic

For the unattractive (which includes most men by definition) the "type" is anyone

I have been told I am attractive but my partners have ranged from quite ordinary looking to traditionally handsome. It’s charisma that does it. One of the best was shorter, blonde and stocky.  I don’t usually like blonde  not my usual refined, svelte lover.  So go for it Gaga!

sicko

privelige

At least the 4th unique incorrect spelling of this word from gaga. Is this incel code? ebitda also used to cock this word up before he quit to hunt SUV drivers in the wimbledon area.

Gaga judging by the ladies who express and interest in me I’m marginally less attractive than a South African prop who’s ginger with cauliflower ears but I still have some criteria for anything beyond a drunken fumble.
