Which Major Chambers Will Fold First?

We've already got the 'which firm will fold first' thread, so in the interest of fairness to m'learned friends I thought I would get this one going.

According to a survey by the Bar Council 55% of chambers will not survive 6 months if the current situation continues and 81% would not survive 12 months.

I don't for one moment think this will continue for 12 months but 6 months is possible.  And there will be some chambers that will start to struggle well before then.

Those with a paper practice will probably be ok.  Anyone who relies on physical attendance at Court to get paid out (i.e. the criminal bar) is in a world of pain.

No reason for chambers to suffer.  Tiny overheads and tiny costs compared to the big fat fees and tenants are wealthy and personally responsible for the rent.

You'd guess that  provincial sets with a heavy criminal %, with chambers in lovely expensive Georgian buildings owned by a commercial landlord, will be the first to go...

I am hearing reports that several large criminal chambers have served notice to quit and will shortly be moving to a virtual chambers model with people working from home.

Amazed it has taken vuvu to prompt that TBH.  Barristers chambers are ripe for a WFH model.
