Apparently you should start weaning a puppy when they are around three to four weeks old when their teeth start to erupt. This process can continue until the seventh or eighth week.
I'd say week 3 to 4 is right but for supplement powdered milk (or evap), I don't think I would start on a puppy mix (which you mix with milk anyway) until about 5 weeks
When I was a child at boarding school, the matron had a fox fur made out of the fur of her dead pet fox (she had pictures of it in a hunting outfit sitting in a babies high chair), it was considered a treat to have it on your bed at night.

my aunt used to wear a fox fur, does that count? (it was the creepiest thing I've ever seen but her generation loved them)
