"And, just remember, if it's free then YOU ARE THE PRODUCT. "
I definitely don't agree with this. The product is advertising. Was weirded out to see that Lush is shutting down its instagram to "focus on influencers"?!
Influencers are something I find preposterous.
But. I am strongly (strongly) influenced by Holly Willoughby.
Re "Influencers", I quite liked that cult Gaia bag last year until it appeared in every second insta post, and I refuse to pay for something given to a bunch of "influencers" for free.
Also 3/4 of the cafes on the King's Road and every place on Elizabeth Street has been designed not to offer one a refreshing cup of coffee and slice of cake but to be featured on social media. I don't think that I could bring myself to step foot in Peggy Porschen now.
I spend a lot of time on Instagram, but I don't use it the way the yoof does.
I won't follow anyone who has a selfie in their feed, unless I know them personally. I think the closest thing to an "influencer" that I follow is Jimmy Chin. I like photography. I couldn't give a fook about celebrities and their products.
Several former secretaries post a stream of unrelenting crap on IG. It's made me see them in a different light and ruined my memories of them being people I'd quite like to shag.

I note DD is missing the point of the thread here. Quelle fvcking surprise.
I haven't been on Instagram for ages. Social meeja is just a bit evil. And, just remember, if it's free then YOU ARE THE PRODUCT. So get off there.

Supes I love Jimmy Chin's feed even though he makes me feel like a failure of an outdoorsman.
