Local pub?

We do have a local pub yes.  several.  luckily as apparently a wealthy quaker widow in the 1800s bought up and shut down dozens of ale houses in the area.  

They were everywhere. Apparently I have a restrictive covenant on my house dating from 1897 which says I cannot sell intoxicating liquor or turn it into a 'den of ill-repute'.

But there's a pub a couple of hundred yards down the road. I always find it easier to take visitors there. Someone else to clear up the mess if nothing else.

Surprised a Quaker shut down pubs. They were substantial players in the brewing industry for years.

well he is my mrs' brother and as far as I know none of us is related to his mrs.

We have just finished a lovely lunch of crab melts with green sald and a fine Albarino.

crab melts

mix 2 tblsp mascarpone with 100g pack of picked white crab meat, juice one lime, thin sliced chilli, handful chopped coriander, tsp dijon. Spread over sour dough slices (4) toasted one side and sprinkle grated gruyere. Toast until bubbling.

Some people are well weird. I’m assuming that much of this was funny in your head and just didn’t translate well.
