Did anyone genuinely believe in 2010 that 13 years of Tozza rule would lead us back here again?   I did not vote Tory and never would but even I am surprised at this fairly spectacular achievement: Strikes, food rationing, plummeting standards of living, labour shortages, spiralling inflation, collapsing public services, uncontrolled illegal immigration.     Impressive stuff.  Its almost as if they were trying.

BACK IN 2010 I COULD NOT HAVE IMAGINED  THAT THE CONSERVATIVES WOULD BE ABLE TO ACHIEVE SO MUCH IN 13 YEARS…

AND I CAN’T WAIT TO SEE WHAT THEY’RE ABLE TO ACHIEVE IN THE NEXT 13!!

Lockdowns happened across Europe, in most countries they happened earlier (as Labour were calling for) and lifted far earlier.    You can argue lockdowns were overkill, maybe you are right, but given the prevailing wisdom at the time was they were necessary the evidence was clear that by going early they did not need to last as long.    Going late is why UK suffered the double whammy of a relatively high casualty rate AND a high economic hit.  This is a direct result of Boris dithering.

Money "spaffed" has no impact on GDP, where we are massively lagging behind all other G7 economies still. The reason for this is COVID was a convenient 2 year smokescreen for the damage Brexit was causing on top of Osborne's idiotic public disinvestment. 

COVID corruption and fraud is nowhere near the damage done by disinvesting in education and the economy generally since 2010. The cost of it could have been covered by cancelling the triple lock. Indeed, most of the shortfalls people are whining about could be covered by removing the primary residence exemption, removing higher rate pension relief and forcing people with assets to pay (or fund a fully funded insurance scheme) for elderly care. I wonder why these are not employed?

So you are saying that Labour also would have paid out billions to their mates for substandard PPE and created loan schemes without adequate checks?  You have no clue if that it is true.

The only thing we know Labour would have done differently is enter lockdowns sooner, which international comparisons clearly showed meant they could be shorter.

The ppe corruption is disgusting but labour we’re clear they would have had longer and more expensive furlough and other payments which dwarfed any ppe spending. 

Where we go royalty, is that you guys continue to suffer a f’ed economy for the next couple of years, worsening over the next five to ten years of a starmer govt.

Threads like this illustrate why you lot are grinding your way to old age. Life for you is an encyclopedia of complaints rather than a daily opportunity to trade towards something better. The stench of plodderdom is almost overwhelming. I’m off to a lithe show.
