Rumours that Starmer is shortly to announce the reopening of every yard of track, and every station, closed by Beeching plus the return of steam traction to rural lines
That probably reflects quite well the speed of the decision making and implementing of change that we'll see under Labour..
Re-opening all Beeching cut lines would be a very, very long project; even just reacquiring the lend that has now often been built on!. Also will piss off mega time legions of cyclist and joggers who enjoy using the disused railway lines as a car free route on gentle gradients.
Oh, and of course, there's the minor issue of how this is all paid for!
