I know how my brain works confronted with a postman in a still moving van who's clearly having a seizure driving towards a wall.  I managed to get it stopped and the hand brake on and him out into the recovery position

Impressive stuff, Sailo. I think this merits a more detailed account.

Summer Saturday morning when the postman drove in and mum went to see him as she thought he might have something to be signed for and she runs back in saying there's something wrong with the postman. Run out and he's slumped over in his van fitting with blood coming out of his mouth and the van still rolling forward.  Being summer he had the window open so reached in a killed the ignition and got the hand brake on before getting him out with some help from Sails senior once I'd shouted at him a couple of times.  Got him into the recovery position whilst getting mum to phone and ambulance and the architect who was visiting to go to the end of the drive to flag the ambulance down.  Mighty relieved when the first responder arrived after about ten minutes and took over.

Turned out he'd developed epilepsy and thank f*ck he hadn't had his fit in the middle of the main road and wiped out some oncoming cars.

apparently it's quite common for people to have one-off seizures without having full on epilepsy

and it depends what you mean by 'late in life', my OH wasn't diagnosed until he was about 30

OTOH, he would have been a Grishamesque hero had he exploited the situation as it seemed like either a Roberts v Ramsbottom or Mansfield v Weetabix scenario. Maybe he should have let the van roll in a bit...smileydevil
