My parents in law use these and they are shit on many levels. Use far more washing up liquid than a standard sponge with liquid in the bowl, head comes off, wastes water as people tend to leave the tap running and plug out when they use one. See also "magic mop" type things.

I just use an old school hand held sponge.

I prefer a hand held sponge but I’ve also never had the problem you describe.
Are you sure you bought the right heads and weren’t trying to use it as a chisel?

Anonymouse is correct. There are two types of heads. The ones that work and the other ones. Spontex?

I use a dishwasher.

Seriously, I haven't used them. The first one looks like the old-fashioned sponge that I use, but with a handle on it.

A sponge on a stick as was given to our Lord on the cross. The holy spontex.

A sponge on a stick was also how the Romans wiped their arses.

Oh that's interesting. No wonder the crucifixion guards had one handy. They keep that part quiet in church!

I think “sponge on a stick” was the Roman equivalent of the modern day leatherman.

I think if you need a leatherman to clean your arse you should seek medical advice
