a number of people I know have repatted back to their countries of birth but retained partnership/employment with the offshore shop mainly because they are too old / been out the game too long to find employment back home.
I would fall into the too old/out the game category but to go back to the UK would be to drive me back to the booze.
Anybody done the 'pat and then further 'patted to another country? NZ seems appealing.

People only do this if they can't make it in the UK
Particularly London

Fair play
Good to be honest with yourself
Wish others would
Crack on then
NZ is nice but I understand the commuting traffic is horrific and it's very expensive

I'm not sure "many" people are doing this
unless you already have a sister/subsidiary/branch office in birth country, you create a permanent establishment for the Pat office and it will be taxed on profits generated by you and pay your social security etc in the birth country and that's a total ball ache - in the UK it probably falls foul of the overseas branch office rules and you need to register with companies house

yeh, from my shop it's not many at all and anyone who has was antipodean originally.
interestingly (u b the judge) some local bloke I worked with, younger than me and native bum-fook SEAsianer, recently moved to NZ with his wife and two young kids on a student visa (obvs with the intention to acquire permanent residency). He says its cheaper day-to-day than where he came from (the shïtole SEA country I call home).
Don't know if it's just scuttlebutt, but he seems happy as Laz.

What does “making it in London” even mean?

Hi Brrrrrap -- I like your work on here
I would have thought pat 2 pat is easier than going pat from local country/county of birth
You have already established that you can do it and are not a U.K. centric (and who wants to be that in this day and age??) fvckwit such as Davis
Pat work typically requires a different skill set (can't be bothered to set out the relevant components, but you know what I mean) and mentality. Given your experience and current location, you can easily demonstrate that you have what it takes
(The comments above are regarding general pat 2 pat moves. It may be that places such as Aus and NZ consider themselves more sophisticated than less established SEA jurisdictions/markets, and I cannot comment on that or how marketable your profile or skill set is in such places)
Obviously, the longer you are out of the U.K. the more difficult it will be to return to credible white collar employment there, but that isn't what you want to do (now or later) so what's the issue?
As regards NZ, professional salaries are lower than in London, cost of living is probably the same as in comparable countries and housing is extremely expensive, particularly if you take into account the relatively modest salaries already referred to
No capital gains tax, though, which may suit if you have a portfolio from which you expect to make periodic disposals
Good luck and stay sober!!

Brrrrp sun just get your local shop to retain you as a consultant and choose where to deploy your meaty pat capital. Well trodden path and even if you choose to rejoin the squalid ranks of UK taxpayers your netnet will exceed their gross so bragging rights intact.
