Non humblebrag

Assisted another firm yesterday by being an advocate in their case (they used me in place of counsel, at counsel rates).  Their comment to me on leaving:

"I'm so pleased we used you instead of a traditional barrister: they would have made this seem really complex and involved, whereas you made it seem dead simple and the outcome look obvious".

There is literally no benefit to anyone else on here in me putting it out there, but it really made me feel good so my fragile ego feels the need to put it out there in the hope of other people piling in in a positive way.  Am I a narcissist or lacking in self-confidence.. you decide!

You probably didn't understand the question.

That's mean obidiah

i untangled a thorny procedural problem for two linked clients recently and wrote to explain what I had done and what I recommended we do next. I copied the supervising partner just so he was aware I was all over it like a cheap suit as it was urgent

I didn't expect any praise or anything

he emailed me back to say something like you have made this seem beautifully clear and simple when I know that it was not at all, and really that is the whole point of our job well done.

I was pleased

It was deffo not straightforward on the crafted evidence of the other side, with a finely balanced set of facts.  However, once the evidence was taken apart it seemed an inevitable win for our client.

And no I mean a number which used to be my monthly salary as a 10yr+ lawyer for a morning's work.

yep.  Thankfully am now getting instructed by more of my peers .. and in fact in my area I outdid counsel this year for number of cases... now just need to work on getting the longer trials in the HC and senior courts
