Give it 3 years. We'll realise the truth if how shyte this all is. The Tories will be gone forever and we'll rejoin the EU and the euro. Kph speed limits and metres and kg. A better world.
I'm holding onto hope by thinking of the 2010 Australian Federal election when not only did the Conservatives finally get kicked out, but John Howard PM lost his safe seat of Bennelong. It was beautiful. (Downside: we had to wait 14 years.)
A globalized economy without globalized government has caused a nasty backlash of inward looking nationalism. It was inevitable. People living pretty comfortable lives and not having to work all that hard in the first world look out and see that they are essentially being told that to keep that comfortable life they have to compete for it with people from China and India who are (in some cases literally) hungry for all the stuff those in the first world have. They quite understandably think that prospect looks a bit sh1t so they are drawn to those who tell them they'll protect them from that.
It's the same resistance you always see from a (comparatively) privileged elite when that privilege is under attack.
I don't think this is the dark before the dawn. In fact I think it is probably more like the twilight of late evening compared to where we are heading.
Aah - The Weirdstone of Brisingamen. One of my favourite books Lear's-fool. The very thought of it has cheered me up on this gloomy election day when I have just had one of my teeth filled.

Everything will continue to be run by sensible civil servants paying lip service to their political masters and nothing will really change.

Given that either Labour or the Tories will win - or have a tie - the one thing we can be totally sure of is that tomorrow we will be able to say
we're ruled by life's failures and aunts

Which makes us worse than life's failures and aunts. What then, is the technical industry term for PLU...?

CHange is certainly coming. Winter is coming.
It feels like the start of some sort of dark victorian novel.

Good luck if he wants to even try. Even Thatcher struggled and failed to do that. Numerous PMs have.

doubt thatch or Campbell were that criminally intent. Cummings is and knows it pays to be criminally inclined to be in politics
