TW does our family affairs.
TJG as was.

I think I once told the story of dropping a Trust Deed off on my way back home from work at Clifford chance in Canary Wharf.  It had been signed by all the relevant family members and I was the last signatory and said I would deliver to the partner. I was on my motorbike, so I parked it up and scuttled into the reception and took the lift up to the private client floor clutching the package, and a corpulent gentleman got into the lift with a trainee or junior lawyer and stared at me and said, witheringly ‘couriers deliver to the post room via the rear loading bays - this is for clients and staff’.  I said I am a client.

Ooh, I actually did a summer placement at TJG, though it might just have been TG back then ? Late 80s. 18 years old. Favour begged via a friend. Thought I would be useless but turned out I had a better understanding of what IT could do for the firm than the firm's management did.

looking at what they are looking for, there's no way I'd get that position, tbf. In particular, I don't have:

- Graduate or post-graduate qualification(s) in international arbitration law and practice
- Experience of participating in arbitration moot competitions (eg, Willem C Vis Moot, FDI Moot, etc), internships in international arbitration in law firms, work experience with arbitrators or at arbitral institutions, and other experience in fields related to international arbitration
- Strong commercial awareness
- Highly motivated and team-orientated and prepared to assist clients and colleagues (out of normal office hours) to meet deadlines
- Performs well under pressure whilst maintaining excellent attention to detail

someone told me to watch out for the jobs that require 20 years of experience and are listed as "entry level"(i.e. pay pittance).... you'd be amazed how many try to get away with this

"Senior professional, iinfrastructure (based in Shanghai)."

Doesn't say what profession, mind.

There can't be that much need for a bloke in perm to jump over the bonnet of a ford capri in China, can there?

What I don't understand is that if I go looking a little deeper than the top picks, there are some flipping great jobs on there that I'd love to see advertised! 🤦

I've just noticed this line in Judy's civ service one

"We'll assess you against these behaviours during the selection process:

  • Delivering at Pace"

So presumably looking for seam, to stand out aamongst all the spin...
