Jeez

I had the misfortune of reading some of the daily mail comments on this. Apparently polixe officers lying in the course of fulfilling their duties is a ok when you're lying about black people.

It all depends whether you believe the panel was fair and unbiased. The fact that there was no weed in the car doesn’t mean the officers didn’t genuinely believe they smelt it (for example by mistake or even from another nearby vehicle).

Could be BS (the panel clearly felt that) but it’s not necessarily wrong just because there wasn’t any there and the occupants of the vehicle were unlikely to ever use it.

Indeed. Like I said the panel felt that they were dishonest in their claims (and I’ve no reason or standing to question that) but given how often anyone smells weed on a daily basis it isn’t at all unlikely that the officers may have done.

This stop was clearly badly conducted but I do fear there was a desire to “get someone” for it given the poor rep of the Met currently and the extensive publicity around it given the occupations of the people stopped.
